Business class seats between US and Europe are between , and , miles, which is ridiculous. On Air France flights there are no benefits, and to top it all, Air France seats my wife and myself separately, although they know that we both are on the same flight. United and American are light years ahead of Flying Blue. This is definitely a big miss. Flying Blue looks interesting from the surface and might be OK if you book a Promo Award, but for any regular flight I would be surprised if you ever find a good deal.

My brother-in-law has plenty miles and offered to donate part of them to me when I wanted to book a flight with my family from Europe to the Middle East. Flying Blue has created a systemic problem that delays response to customers, defeats consumer efforts to claim their privileges, and provides no one to call them to accountability.

I did so using the Flying Blue chat element of its website onboard. The chat person directed me to email and then to follow up with a phone call when I made it to San Francisco. This was to send me down the rabbit hole, as I discovered in the ensuring months.

I called, was told that the only thing they could do is have their phone supervisor look into it. The supervisor would not get onto the phone but confirmed they had my email.

I was denied the privilege on the return flight. I did with all documentation and the history of what had transpired so far. This was about Flying Blue. Only the email people could respond—the very people they sent me to. Their supervisors would not get on the phone; and when one supervisor said he could do nothing without evidence—relayed that response—I offered it but he refused to give out an email for him.. I began to reconsider my loyalty to Flying Blue. This was their responsibility.

I asked for compensation for my time—a fair amount given the amount of time and the breach in trust and denial of stated privilege along the way, I had some who denied this was ever a privilege. It was and is: it was listed on the FB website until it was scrubbed for their April 1 change in the program. It was confirmed with me last week in writing from a Delta person.

The email confirmed this was my privilege and I was denied it. That was on Flying Blue. Agreed, I have been a platinum member for 3 years on flying blue, due to multiple round trips between SFO and Paris, and the service is terrible compared to other programs.

When you fly business, the benefits are completely useless. You just accumulate a bunch of points you paid a high premium for. Recently started to use KLM after a break of 10 or so years. Only because they have flat bed seats in business and the same flights for me at the times I needed fly BA were twice the price.

Once i read abut buying bonus miles, i called to ask will these miles increase my status. Amswer yes. Wrong info. They refused to refund or to upgrade my status. O e employee als asked me to recall exact date and hour of call i made to inquire which was 4 months earlier. Second thier log in password policy is stricter than my credit card or my european digital id login for passport , license etc… Isues.

At that rate I would need to fly the route over times to earn a free ticket for the same route. Think about it. Other than that I can get my family to Istanbul Lounge at Ataturk the best lounge ever and I am not turkish, btw…: , gift an elite status, 2 business class upgrades per year and so much more benefits.

Plus Turkish flies all over the world and they have very good services on both economy and business. On every attempt to upgrade, I am put on a Wait list. When I book, I want to know immediately if the Upgrade was available. I had over points It takes only 40 Points to upgrade for European Flight but over points expired. Suggest you correct that ASAP, it is very misleading. Would it be better to use all my miles for awards out of AAdvantage and start again with Malaysian Enrich or just accumulate the lesser miles in AAdvantage flying Malaysian Airlines?

I think the above recommendations are from an American point of view for people who travel to Europe sometimes. Miles are easily generated and nearly every time I tried to upgrade it worked right away. Lufthansa gold status is nearly impossible to achieve, unless you fly intercontinental business class at least times per year.

Its far better to achieve your status with Aegean, TAP or Turkish and then enjoy the amazing Lufthansa lounges with your partner gold card.
